This is a beautiful picture of Columbus Circle, almost at it's cleanest and most deserted. The fountains are in the background, and it is all a great testimony to a most adventurous man. I am sure that Ferdinand and Isabella are looking down on this monument and are pleased. Although Columbus was known to discover America, he pioneered a direct route to the East Indies. Sadly, he died in poverty and near obscurity, but he lives on in this monument on 59th Street.
