Matthias Goerne sang J. S. Bach's BWV 80 "Ich Habe Genug.'

  1. Louis Lagrée still conducts MM in a black busboy's jacket, and in what must be nearly twenty years that I've seen him conduct, his gestures have become more corybantic and tense. With all his thrashing about, at least he didn't intrude into Goerne's elegant and warm 'An Sylvia,' or his fierce rendition of 'Erikonig.' Mozart's #40 was clearly more comfortable ground - yea, I know, it's MM - and this was a bright crisp performance that sent the audience home in fine spirits.
