  1. A constant theme from many commentators, is that a Trump debacle will engender in the Republican Party a sort of Reformation, in which the snake handlers and toxic nativist trolls from the hinterland will be cast out in the ensuing götterdämmerung. The GOP will return to it's decent roots of Lincoln, fiscal conservatism and foreign policy skepticism. I fear not. The New England Republican voice of social tolerance, civility, and limited government of my world has been dead for decades. Enabled by the twitter driven degradation of civil discourse, the enraged cretin army will still be howling after November 8th.
