"Since this Octavian (Tara Erraught) is a dumpy girl with the demeanour of a scullery-maid, and since the two seem so alike in age, you’d say it was a torrid lesbian affair." Ok, most opera review is rubbish, but in it's provincial malice, this one crosses a very basic line of civility. The real Ochs here is the reviewer, and were I her family or friend I'd call him out in the best Viennese manner, at the end of a sabre.
