Charleston, and the dyspeptic journalistic hangover
The wretched aftermath of Charleston: reading trite bien pensant arguments in the press over the right terms, terrorism, hate crime. Few appear to be willing to reckon with the term evil, which ironically, the victims and their Church would have understood. The lazy degraded dialogue will content itself to condemning racism ( righteously found to be bad), or gun control (those with the misfortune of having a good memory will recall the bombing of the 16th St, Baptist Church in Birmingham). Theodicy will await another time.
Have a good weekend, and a last tip for those partial to charcoal barbeque - the New York Times, packed with deep insights about the Confederate flag and Kanye West , will light this up nicely.
