Western narratives of what is happening, from the demeaning Obama presentation of the diminuendo of American power (Don't worry folks, It's not about Islam...just keep saying it), or the European presentation (Floggings, FGM, crucifixions, beheadings, very unattractive, despite our multicultural yearnings), hides a basic tilt towards Tehran's tale. Don't worry: Putin likes it too, so you're in great company. 'Destabilizing?' We should ask exactly what represents stability in this, or any other region. Memos containing this term usually contain lazy blinkered thinking, and this, like most doesn't disappoint.
