Many of you will recall my twitting Bloomberg during his endless terms as Mayor - the nanny state nonsense, the 'Big Gulp' laws, etc., but in the larger scheme of things, he was reason and competence, who left his cretinous successor a budget surplus and civic competence. Highlights of his speech, which I feel are worth hearing if any of you feel temptation from the dark side: "Trump says he wants to run the country like he runs his business. God help us!" "I'm a New Yorker, and I know a con when I see one" Fact check - he's from Boston (as my family was btw), but he's still on point here, and after his years in NY, I'll let him claim the cred. Trump is the desecration of decent values, whatever your politics are, and while it may appear hopelessly treacly or sentimental, Bloomberg's reference to love of country is not misplaced. This can't be allowed to happen. And yes, I'm a New Yorker, have the long form birth certificate to prove it, and back here we know he's a shitbird!
