What A.I. Did to My College Class

  1. The Chicago School, and the early music movement were influences in my undergraduate days, and it is curious that he brings up Freud, which was also an obsessive phenomenon in college and intellectual circles before WW1. The AI consumed students here, unless we're missing something, appear quite apolitical, whereas elsewhere, for better or often worse, students appear inflamed by current events, Gaza, Trump, Iran, etc. The vapidity here is unsettling. I was left with Monteverdi and more. What pleasures or personal enrichment will these students have? The once-noble medieval idea of the University, the trivium and quadrivium, with its celebration of the arts, has become a trade school, without the dignity of manual work.
