Dune Church, Southampton

  1. First of all, the picture of Dune Church from the dunes was lovely, as three steeples were visible from the dunes. And, if I am correct, a lake is on one side and the Atlantic is on the other. It is an Episcopal church which appeals to me, because, even though I have been raised Catholic, I am leaning toward converting because of the lack of the "fire and brimstone" mentality of the Catholic Church. Also, I always pop into St. James Episcopal Church on Madison and 72nd just to pray and sometimes talk to the Rector. Enough about me. The picture of the church was quite telling, and I am sure that it is a charming place to worship if one is out East.

  2. I suspect you'd be delighted with this church, whose rites are High Church Anglican...fairly similar to RC...'smells and bells.' The interior is magnificent, and the Rector is one of the finest eloquent men I've seen on a pulpit in the last decade. His eulogy for a friend's father was luminously beautiful, deeply personal, and managed to console this otherwise distant skeptical Jew!
