Renée Fleming will need to get some edge on for this role at the Met!

  1. Hey there everyone. I am a bit limited on this one, because I am not familiar with Renee Fleming. Clearly, she is going to be at The Met and I am gathering that you do not think that she has the stuff for The Baroque Master, as I call Handel. Do you know who commissioned this piece, because I know that Handel was very popular in his own time among the big kahunas. I haven't heard the Semele pieces yet-will get to that tomorrow-but I love Handel's music for the harp and orchestra, Water Music and Music for The Royal Fireworks. A bit weak on his operas, but I believe that he wrote them primarily in Italy and Germany.

  2. Jim, I had no idea that Handel wrote 46 operas in his lifetime! you must think that I am an incredible boor, and I wish that you would correct me when I say silly things. About Handel, I used to go to Carnegie Hall with some family around the holidays to hear a friend in the choir sing "The Messiah."
