XIII. Haydn St. Cecilia Mass, Hob. 22 5 Marc Minkowski.

  1. First of all, after listening to these deeply Christian songs, I feel purged of my sin of not going to church today. Jim, if you are Jewish, and you know this, I will admit that you have an encyclopedic mind. St. Cecilia is the Patron Saint of singers, musicians and lute makers. I think that it is charming that Haydn and Handel are celebrating her so. I am starting to wonder about you, Jim. You always post stunning female singers (except in the next piece.) It makes me wonder if they are getting ahead because of their beauty or talent or both. The blonde singer did a terrific job with tonality and melodies. Her singing was celestial as it should be for the honoring of a protectress of a saint!

  2. My dear, I don't pick them for being 'stunning' per se, but for their other vocal and theatrical gifts. There are many ways artists are compelling, and men will not be immune to some of them, but beauty alone won't guarantee you make it to Jim's Jeremiad;)
