  1. Bryn Terfel is terrific as that Very Bad Man!

  2. Don Giovanni and , I believe, Elvira, sing and dance a seductive duet. I haven't seen DG in a long time, so I could not place this piece in the context of the opera. My best guess is that it is towards the end when Elvira wants Don Giovanni to give up his wicked ways. Jim, there is a place in this world for men like DG, for good women forever love their men for their sins. (like Elvira) When I was an Italian student, the class saw DG, and we were all entralled by Leporello. Remember when he sings, "Voglio fare il gentiluomo!" Silly schoolgirls that we were, we ALWAYS sang that line in class-and sometimes after! Voices were magnificent, and it is a very Dantesque ending to this opera.

  3. Glad to read your tolerant view on DG - so many people conclude from the opera that he goes to hell for seducing women - he goes to hell for having killed a man! Oh, forgot to add, it's w/Zerlina, the peasant's fiancee..
